Palisades State Park Family Session with Wildflowers
One of my favorite sessions from the summer — a Palisades State Park family session with wildflowers
Palisades State Park is such a unique and gorgeous destination to visit and truly has something for everyone. It becomes a bit of a photographer hub during the evenings in the summer and fall months, but it is such a large park that there is room for everyone to enjoy its beauty. The Palisades is just about a 30-minute drive outside of Sioux Falls and so worth going to whether it is for a family or lifestyle session, or a picnic with your friends.
This park has so many different backdrops that make for stunning photos. This is my go-to spot for family, engagement, and senior photos in mid-August when there is a field full of beautiful wildflowers right before entering the park next to the road. Whether you want the red rock backdrop, evergreen trees, or wildflower field in the summer months, the Palisades has a variety of scenery and overlooks.
This family session was an honor to document and I loved capturing each sweet moment that unfolded. We let their little one lead the way and just had fun walking through the field of wildflowers. I am such a fan of the simplicity and beauty of rolling hills and wide open spaces for family sessions. I think the more space to explore for the family the better. This family coordinated such cute outfits for this session and I loved Michell’s detailed dress she wore that created some beautiful detail shots as well. We timed the session to start photos about 45 minutes before sunset to get those last golden rays and I think we had perfect timing. I have so many favorites in this gallery!
