Hi, I'm Raquel. Your Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer
Thank you for checking out my blog! I love sharing all my photography expertise and inspiration with you to make planning your photoshoot seamless for you.
Hey! I'm a plant-lover, house project DIY-er, traveler, cat mom, matcha-loving, photographer....and now...your go-to gal for all things weddings & capturing your story. I'm so glad you're here!
Our grandparents were really good friends meaning Thomas and I grew up together. We didn’t really start to get feelings for each other until Thomas was a senior and I was a sophomore in high school! We had a mutual friend who pressured us into hanging out and well the rest is history… Despite going to different colleges and post-graduation living 4 hours away from one another, we couldn’t get enough of each other. Eventually, we decided it was time to take the next step and move into the same house; the rest is history!
How do you describe each other to someone hearing about them for the first time?
Thomas’s answer: I’m the indoor one and she’s the outdoor one. She’s a very nice and kindhearted human being, very loving of the environment (her prairies) and her family, she will spend her time outside whenever possible (even if it’s cold).
Lydia’s answer: I talk about how kind and caring of a human he is. Thomas always be in your corner when you need him and puts family above everything. He is the first person people will call when they need help, and will always put a smile on anyone’s face and try to make your day better. He is a super genuine person.

About The Emerald Pines Barn Venue
I am so grateful for each wedding I get to photograph at the stunning Emerald Pines Barn in Sioux Falls.
The Emerald Pines Barn is such a modern and elegant wedding venue. It gives a little bit of a rustic feel and has a built-in bar, private bride and groom suites, indoor and outdoor ceremony space options, and much more. The venue owners, Kristi and Jason Shanks, always make the day flow so smoothly along with their friendly staff to help bring your wedding day to life and ready to assist throughout the day.
Additionally, there is so much natural light throughout this venue and some jaw-dropping spots for photos just outside of their venue with all the evergreen trees surrounding the venue. This spacious venue is perfect for hosting a guest count of up to 350 guests in their grand hall.
